The Art of Doing Nothing to Accomplish Everything

Practicing meditation effectively involves mastering the art of doing nothing. According to the ancient Vedic perspective, when you master the art of doing less, you accomplish more. And when you master the art of doing nothing, you accomplish everything.

When people say that meditation is hard, it means that they either haven't tried the right kind of technique or that they haven't been trained properly. Meditation is a practice that should never feel like hard work. You shouldn't feel more worn-out mentally than you did before you started.

I liken it to swimming...
Up until a couple of years ago, I would get completely exhausted while swimming just one lap in a twenty-five meter pool because I had never been properly trained to swim. At first, I tried to teach myself by watching YouTube videos and by reading what I could in bookstores. But I still found it hard.

I didn't see real progress until I hired a private swimming coach who watched me as I swam. He explained to me where I was straining and where I could be more efficient in my stroke. All of the sudden, what used to feel like hard work now feels as natural as walking.

My ability to swim had always been there. I just needed a little guidance to help me cultivate it. Now, I am a self-sufficient swimmer and I can easily swim a mile no problem. My brief training made all the difference.

The same kind of ease and effortlessness can be gained in meditation when one is properly trained by an expert.
